About Tesfa Berhan
Tesfa Berhan Child and Family Development Organization (Tesfa Berhan CFDO) is a child and youth focused non-governmental and not-for-profit civil society organisation. It was founded on September 13, 2009 by community representatives from ChildFund’s (formerly known as Christian Children's Fund Inc.) project operational areas. Later on September 10/2019, it was re-registered at the Authority for Civil Society Organizations with license number 2190. Tesfa Berhan CFDO was formerly led by the general assembly. But, since 2019, it has become a board led organization.
The main purposes of its establishment was to:-
- Improve access to high quality early childhood development, Health, Education and potable water that responds to the safety and protection needs of children and youth,
- Work towards the livelihood improvement of children and youth with disabilities, under difficult circumstances and living with vulnerable families; and advocate for their right,
- Participate and support environmental protection, conflict resolution, democratization and sustainable development initiatives,
- Strengthen economic capacities of care givers through income generating activities and food security interventions
- Undertake activities that enhance reproductive health education and services for youths and women in reproductive ages.
- Diversify its source of fund and program reach through social entrepreneurship/business
